NZ National Maritime Museum

New Zealand has a diverse maritime history.  The Maritime Museum presents this history in over 14 exhibition halls including on-water heritage vessels.  The exhibition starts with a 10-minute wide-screen movie on the arrival of the first migratory voyage to Aotearoa.  The museum is located
in the heart of Auckland's Viaduct Harbour

A painting depicting the wreck of HMS Orpheus on 7 February 1863 in
Manukau Harbour by painter Richard Brydges Beechey.  Of the 259 officers
and men on board, 189 died - the greatest loss of life from a shipwreck in
New Zealand waters.  This painting was done September of that same year
